from colorado to scotland - a wedding at the harbour chapel, dunbar

A Colorado Love Story in Scotland: A Dream Wedding at Harbour Chapel, Dunbar

When a couple from Colorado decides to fly half way across the globe to tie the knot in Scotland, you know it's going to be something a bit special. Emily and Adam did just that, and they brought their closest family and friends across the Atlantic to celebrate their love in the picturesque town of Dunbar, and it was nothing short of stunning. With the quaint little pink Harbour Chapel as their venue and the Scottish coast as their backdrop, this wedding was a perfect blend of intimacy, adventure, and pure joy.

A Venue Steeped in History and Charm: Harbour Chapel, Dunbar

Harbour Chapel, with its rich history was the ideal location for Emily and Adam’s wedding. Nestled in the heart of Dunbar, this lovingly restored chapel offers a unique mix of traditional charm and quirkiness. The natural light that spills in through the chapel's windows provided a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfectly setting the tone for the couple's ceremony that was conducted by Dunbar local Gina The Celebrant. For couples seeking a wedding venue that combines historic character with an intimate feel, Harbour Chapel is an absolute gem - this was my third wedding there and it never disappoints!

An International Affair: Friends and Family Gather in Scotland

What made this wedding truly extraordinary was the journey that every guest made to be there. Traveling from Colorado and Canada to Scotland is no small feat, but the love and support Emily and Adam received from their guests made the day even more special. The energy was electric, with everyone excited to be part of such a meaningful celebration - the pair are surrounded by so much love and it was such an honour to capture those little moments. I’ve no doubt the day was an unforgettable experience for all.

Toasting to Love: Drinks by the Harbour

After the ceremony, the celebration moved to the Battery area of the harbour, where guests enjoyed drinks with a view. The historic harbour, with its rugged coastline and expansive views of the North Sea, offered the perfect backdrop for toasting to new beginnings. The atmosphere was relaxed and joyful, with the sound of waves crashing in the background as loved ones shared stories, laughter, and I was even graced with the most beautiful light for my group shots and even more gorgeous light when I trotted Emily and Adam further down the harbour to grab some pizza from the van and do their couples portraits!

Golden Hour Magic

As the day turned to evening, we had the opportunity to sneak away for a few moments during golden hour. Dunbar’s coastal light is something special and it gave the best glow that made for some great champagne spray photos. Emily and Adam’s portraits are the kinds of photos that tell a story and I’m so grateful for them putting their trust in me and embracing the day!
