If you’ve been dreaming of a wedding day that’s equal parts relaxed, stylish, and overflowing with personality, you’ll want to hear about a recent celebration I had the pleasure of capturing at the stunning Netherbyres House in Eyemouth.

I joked to K+M when I first spoke to them that I’d manifested their wedding as it was a vanue I’d been longing to shoot at and, wow, this day was nothing short of magical, and I reckon it’s the perfect inspiration for couples looking for a really fun, cool, and stylish venue but with a super laid-back vibe.

teamwork makes the dream work

One of the most refreshing aspects of this wedding was the couple’s decision to not bother with the tradition of not seeing each other on the morning of the wedding. Right from the start, it set the tone for a day that was all about togetherness and authenticity. K + M were both getting ready in the intimate and beautifully designed rooms of Netherbyres House but would pass in and out to each other to chat and get things collected and ready meaning they were able to share moments of calm before the celebration. It was such a relaxed morning as they helped each other with those final touches. It was a beautiful reminder that your wedding day is about the two of you—your partnership, your story.

Another standout moment was the couple’s choice to walk down the aisle together - a refreshing break from tradition that felt entirely their own. This is something becoming a lot more common in my weddings and I love that! They made their way down the staircase together and into the stunning ceremony space and were able to take in all their guests together.

Netherbyres House: The Quirky, relaxed Backdrop

Netherbyres itself deserves its own spotlight. This venue is a dream for couples who want something out of the ordinary. With its quirky, bold interiors and elegant period features, every corner of Netherbyres offers a stunning backdrop for photos, i mean honestly, every where you look there’s something beautiful to look at. Whether it’s the grand staircase, the vibrant lounge spaces, or the beautifully colourful gardens, the venue is a photographer’s paradise. It’s the perfect blend of character and charm, making it an unforgettable setting for any wedding.

Celebrate the Celebrant

I can’t talk about this day without giving a huge shoutout to K+M’s celebrant The Grooving Humanist otherwise known as Sarah. It was the second time I’d worked with her this year and she is phenomenal—engaging, warm, and made the ceremony feel incredibly personal but also bursting with personality. If you’re looking for a celebrant who can craft a ceremony that truly reflects your story, I’d highly recommend getting in touch with her.

Golden Hour Magic

It’s no secret that the weather has left a lot to the imagination in Scotland this year, but this April day was beautiful (I even burnt my scalp…) And as the day flowed into the evening, we stole a few moments after dinner for some golden hour portraits. The soft, warm light alongside the walled garden was perfection and really complemented the day’s romantic but super relaxed vibe. These golden hour shots are always a highlight for me—there’s something about that time of day that brings out the best in everyone - the hard bits are over, the nerves are gone and couples are just ready for some quiet time together before the party kicks off!

And tis party kicked off. K+M booked The Brightside Party Band to keep everyone on their feet with a mixture of amazing covers and some ceilidh dancing dropped in - the dance floor was buzzing and I had major FOMO when it was time for me to leave just as they cracked open their rendition of Murder On The Dancefloor.
