an arthur’s seat elopement
In the heart of Edinburgh, amidst the historic ruins of St. Anthony's Chapel and the breathtaking backdrop of the city skyline, I had the pleasure of documenting the intimate and heartfelt union of Canadians Rebecca and Jonathan. This alternative and relaxed wedding ceremony, held during Easter, set the stage for a summer wedding party that would follow.
The Setting
Canadians Rebecca and Jonathan, now residing in London, traveled to Scotland to exchange their vows in an intimate ceremony at the ruins of St. Anthony's Chapel. With only two witnesses by their side, they embraced the tranquility of Holyrood Park, creating memories against the backdrop of Edinburgh's iconic skyline. For Rebecca, with Scottish roots in her family, the location held a special place in her heart, adding a layer of sentimentality to the already magical day.
Candid Moments and Joyful Photography
As an alternative and relaxed wedding photographer, my approach is to capture the authenticity and joy of each moment. Rebecca and Jonathan's ceremony was no exception. From the exchange of vows to the laughter that echoed through the ruins, every candid shot encapsulated the love that surrounded them. The natural beauty of the location complemented the couple's relaxed vibe, resulting in a series of photographs that truly reflect the essence of their unique love story.
The Importance of Intimacy
Choosing to have an intimate ceremony before their summer wedding party allowed Rebecca and Jonathan to focus on the most important aspect of the day – their love for each other. The smaller guest list and serene setting provided a sense of connection and closeness, making the celebration all the more meaningful.
Tips for Future Couples
For couples considering an intimate ceremony, the ruins of St. Anthony's Chapel in Holyrood Park offer a captivating and romantic setting. Embrace the authenticity, and consider the significance of a location that holds sentimental value. Remember, joy can be found in the simplest moments, and allowing your photographer to capture these candid emotions will result in timeless memories. R&J aced this and really just revelled in each other, chatting and laughing while I stood bck and captured it.
As an alternative and relaxed wedding photographer based in Edinburgh, I love having the opportunity to document such unique and heartfelt celebrations. If you're planning your own special day, consider the magic of an intimate ceremony, surrounded by the ones you hold dear, against the backdrop of a location that speaks to your heart!
