E+J: an Island Wedding at Bute Yard
Welcome to the wedding of Eilidh & Joe, a fun-loving couple who tied the knot in July in a gorgeous Scottish wedding at the brand-new Bute Yard
Welcome to the wedding of Eilidh and Joe, a fun-loving couple who tied the knot in July in a gorgeous Scottish wedding at the brand-new Bute Yard, an extraordinary warehouse venue located on the picturesque Isle of Bute. As Scotland's unpredictable weather added a touch of drama to their day, this celebration was a testament to love's ability to shine through any storm… Too cheesy? Well, I said what I said…
The day began in a lovely cottage near the bride’s family home where Eilidh and her Bride Tribe shared lot’s of lovely moments and confetti as they prepared for the big day. Amidst laughter and tears of joy, the bride and her closest companions shared their anticipation, excitement and maybe some nerves ahead of the ‘big event’.
Bute Yard, the first venue of its kind on the Isle of Bute, served as the backdrop for Eilidh and Joe's wedding. This unique venue, which opened its doors this year, offered a unique and industrial setting, showcasing the couple's personal touches including flower arrangements by the bride’s mum and aunt, a cake of cheese - ya know, actual wheels of cheese - and tables named after fishing boats. With its rustic charm and versatile spaces, Bute Yard was the perfect canvas for this Island celebration.
In true Scottish fashion, the weather threw a curveball during the couple’s outdoor ceremony. While light rain briefly graced the nuptials, it was nothing that a few umbrellas couldn't handle. Eilidh and Joe, their guests, and the entire wedding party embraced the West Coast drizzle, creating a truly unique and memorable experience - plus, it made for some cute pics!
As the drizzle turned to downpour after the ceremony, the wedding party sought shelter inside Bute Yard, where guests enjoyed drinks and canapés. The unexpected showers only added to the cozy atmosphere of the venue and we opted to do the majority of our group shots undercover!
After dinner, when the rain finally cleared, it was time for Eilidh and Joe to shine in their couples' portraits. We only needed 10 minutes to capture their love in photographs - they walked, laughed and chatted and their connection and happiness made my job easy!
The festivities continued with a lively ceilidh by the MacDonald Brothers (remember they were on X Factor?!), where Eilidh and Joe rejoined their guests. Laughter, dancing, and joy filled the venue as the newlyweds celebrated their love with friends and family. The ceilidh was a fitting conclusion to a day filled with unforgettable moments. I left the party behind to go ‘home’ to my campervan - what a day!
Eilidh and Joe's Scottish wedding at Bute Yard, Isle of Bute, was a perfect blend of love, tradition, confetti and the unpredictable beauty of Scottish weather. Their story serves as a reminder that even a little rain can't dampen the spirits of two people in love. Here's to Eilidh and Joe, the fun-loving couple who embraced the unexpected and turned it into a magical wedding day!
