3 Reasons Why You Should Have A Pre-Wedding Shoot
Pre-Wedding Photoshoot in Edinburgh
A pre-wedding photoshoot can be added to any of my wedding packages - big or small! They can be done at a location of your choice but I personally LOVE wandering round Edinburgh's romantic Old Town with a couple, especially on a quiet Autumn day, but you could hit North Berwick beach on a sunny summer evening, or maybe even a woodland walk at the Botanics in spring.
But what is a pre-wedding session and why might I need one? This is something I chat about a lot with clients over our initial Zoom meeting before they book me for their big day. Here are my three reasons why a pre-wedding session is a great idea.
So, lets get into the 3 reasons why you should have a pre-wedding shoot…
3 Reasons For a Pre-Wedding Shoot
We Get to Meet in 3D
Get Comfortable in Front of the Camera
It's Exciting
1 . We Get to Meet in 3D
By the time you've booked me as your photographer for you big day we'll have met albeit, virtually. I like to chat to all my couples over Zoom as I think it's important we get to gauge each other's vibe and that you like me.
But a pre-wedding session lets us meet up in person after booking to wander, chat and hear all about your plans. I'll be spending a lot of time with you on what will be one of the biggest days of your life, I'll also be spending a lot of time with your friends and family, so it's super important that you're comfortable with me!
Pre-wedding sessions can take place at a location of your choice within an hour drive of Edinburgh (anything beyond that is fine, but may incur an additional travel charge!) - it can be a place that's special to you both as a couple, somewhere close to your venue, or perhaps just a little wander round the city. We can even stop for cake and a chat - it's super laidback! Zero pressure!
2 . Get Comfortable in Front of the Camera
If I had a pound for every time a couple said "ahh, we don't like getting our photo taken" or "I'll act so awkward, I can't help it!" or "We wanna look super natural" then, I'd be a millionaire (well, not quite, but I could probably treat myself to a wee Five Guys), and I get it, getting your photo taken can feel daunting, especially on your wedding day. However, a pre-wedding session can help greatly with this. As we get to know each other, it naturally becomes easier anyway.
Pretty much all my couples tell me they want natural, relaxed and authentic imagery from their day and I achieve this by putting you at ease from the get go. You get to experience first hand how I work - we walk, we chat, we laugh. I don't give any awkward poses, but I might give gentle direction and prompts to keep you moving. You'll get to practice and realise that it isn't so scary after-all! Even the most camera shy couples have fun - I promise!
3 . It's Exciting
You can book your session a year before your wedding or a few weeks before, it's completely up to you, but either way - it's super exciting! It's a great way to chat about all your plans so far and start to build the excitement for the day itself. Oh and if you opt to have the session shortly after booking you have images that you could use on your save the date cards or message to send to guests.
Once you've done it you'll also realise that it's fun and nothing to worry about, you'll both be pros. Plus, it'll be one less thing to worry about, when the day rolls round you'll know that your wedding photography is in good hands and how to get the best pictures - ya know, the relaxed and fun pictures you wanted all along!?
How To Book
So now you know the 3 reasons why you should have a pre-wedding shoot - how does this all sound, good? If you'd like to chat, drop me a message with your details & wedding date and we'll arrange a Zoom chat! Once we've got your wedding in the diary we can look at organising your pre session shoot. If you're already booked with me, great, let me know when you'd like to do it.
Think about the seasons, are you an autumn lover or prefer the beach on a warm day - even if it's a while away, let's chat options and get you in the diary! If you haven’t already booked a pre-wedding session and would like to add one onto your package, let me know, I'll be happy to sort it out!
